Small Group Sessions

Volunteer Appreciation and Recognition

A full review of GSCB Service Unit and Board recognitions for volunteers. Session will include discussion on each recognition, requirements, endorsements, timeline, communication, fulfillment, service unit recognition committee best practices, and more. The session will end with a discussion on ways to include appreciation into regular meetings and everyday girl scout activities, as well as, GSCBs plan for ongoing appreciation year round

A Leaders Role in Highest Awards (Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award)

Troop Leaders play a key role in leading girls through the successful completion of their highest award projects. This session will review their role, the resources and training available to them, and the GSCB process for submission and approval of both proposal and final awards.

Volunteer Toolkit (VTK) Interactive Session

An interactive session focused on building a VTK year plan for multi-level troops. Bring your laptops and questions as we lead you through the creation of a year plan. We will provide best practices for navigation, setting up year plans, searching for resources, communicating through VTK, and more.

Outdoor Skills

Are you looking to learn new skills or hone existing ones?! Join us for a session focused on skills that make outdoor activities easier. The session will include knot tying, knife skills, fire building, survival kit must haves, and more.

GSCB Facilitator Free Camp Activities

Our number one question is what can I do on a GSCB property that doesn't require a facilitator. The session will focus on each of the four camp properties and the activities that are available for use without a reservation and facilitator. We will take it one step further and include a discussion on progression.

Engaging Current and Potential Volunteers

One of our biggest issues at both the Service Unit and Troop level is engaging new volunteers and parents in supporting Girl Scout efforts. This session will focus on identifying support needs, making the ask, and ensuring appreciation follows their support.

GSCB Girl Scout Recruitment Strategy

Our success is dependent on our ability to engage and recruitment new members. This session will break down the 2021-2022 recruitment strategy from the council level to troop level. We will discuss campaigns, events, goals, volunteer support needs, and so much more.

Service Unit Cookie Booth Management

The MY21 cookie season was a great success! From our volunteers to our girls we exceeded goals and made our presence in our communities known. However, we know there were many pivots and changes that we all made that require reflection and discussion on how we move forward; cookie booth management is one of them. The session will focus on an open discussion around Service Unit best practices, booth lotteries, feedback, and council booths and service unit booth designations.

GSCB Program Opportunities

This session will be a deep dive into the program options for the 2021-2022 Girl Scout year. We will discuss the menu of offerings as well as a full review of Program on the Move and how both Troops and Service Units can utilize its programming. Additionally we will discuss our program partners, how we are engaging with them, and how troops can connect for additional programming opportunities.

Volunteer Conflict Resolution/Management

Conflict between volunteers is something that occurs regularly within Girl Scouting. This conflict can impact the success of Service Units and the experiences of volunteers in negative ways. The session will focus on strategies for managing and resolving conflict within our volunteer circles. We will walk through real examples of conflict, demonstrate conversation tactics, and discuss your biggest areas of concern. We will end the session reviewing Service Unit and GSCB Staff roles in managing conflict and GSCB commitment to managing the tough stuff.

What Can GSCB Do For You?

This session is focused on hearing from you! Let's discuss what we can do to better support, engage, and communicate with our key audiences. Defining those audiences as Service Units, Troops, Volunteers, and Girls. Breaking each audience down to focus on programs, resources, and opportunities. We will end the session with a conversation about communication and how our Service Units want to learn of changes, updates, reminders.
